New Blog

A while back I finished reading the book "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult (thanks Sarah) and it got me thinking a lot about what it would mean to this family if one of my babies was diagnosed with Cancer. I am not so sure I could handle it. Today while waiting for Keith to come home and with the kids nicely settled in front of a Backyardigans episode I took a moment to do some blog hopping, and I came across one that I know I will be watching and reading from now on. The blog is Salt and Chocolate, and just a few short weeks ago her 16 month old son was diagnose with Leukemia. He has the most common form of Leukemia ALL (here) so there is a very large survival rate, but STILL! Her baby has cancer! It makes me take a look at my babies and realize how truly, truly blessed I am that the biggest health issue they have between the both of them is a bit of the accident prone gene. They are healthy and beautiful and smart and lovey and I am so blessed!

my heart always goes out to mothers who are dealing with sick children, all the things you thought were so important become mundane compared to what life hands you.

and as a mother it is amazing how strong you become when you find out that there is a problem--i always think "what would my mom do for me?"
