Too much time on my hands...

When I am not working and I don't have to nap I just am amazed at how many hours there are in the day! I have time to clean, read, nap, play or....digiscrap! LOL! So my friend Mindi's blog needed a face lift for sure, and I wanted to give her one! Check out what I did here. I think it turned out really cute!

Shannon, with regards to the Olympic opening ceremony: Not to rain on your parade but keep in mind that the chinese participants are in many cases the conscripts of a totalitarian government that controls the local press and has severely limited the activities of the foreign media in China. You are only seeing what the Chinese want you to see; not the filthy air, poverty and political repression. Love. Dad

Yeah, but the opening ceremonies were really cool.

That 7 year old girl who sang in the opening ceremonies was lip syncing, because the girl that was actually singing wasn't as cute as the government thought she should be.

Remember that they had to order the performers to smile?

And they all smiled too. That is why China wins in syncronized diving, and gymnastics and stuff like that. They are disciplined and born into a country where they are trained to be hard workers. Every country is different, and they all have their faults, but they wanted to put on a good show for the world and show everyone what they can do, and they did a fantastic job.

I ditto what Shannon said :)

I would do a great job if they were going to feed my family to the hogs, too. Not that anything like that is going on over there.

What the heck? Seriously.

Shannon, I don't know who anonymous is (not me), but I would guess that what they are referring to is the threat of death or imprisonment that goes along with being a government conscript. They are not trained to work together, they are FORCED to work together if they want to live. Remember, this is the country where parents kill girl babies because they can only have one and they want a boy. Love. Dad

OH!!! Don't mention the baby girls! That makes me cry! I truly LOVE watching all these Chinese GIRLS in the Olympics doing so well...even if thats a bit "unpatriotic"....it makes me feel so proud that they have overcome such a threat and become so fantastic!

Yeah, it is so sad when you hear that these girls are taken from where ever at the age of 3 and turned into these little gymnast machines, but it does make your heart go pitter pat when they do SO GOOD. China definitely has it's issues, but when listening to all that stuff on the news it makes me more proud and glad to be an American where we are free to choose.

NOW you're getting it. Freedom is always better, even if it's the freedom to not be so good. Love. Dad
