How scrawny are your branches? We finally got a tree, we couldn't really afford a real one this year so I caved and let Keith convince me to get a fake one (he didn't really have to convince me that much, I just have to keep up appearances!). He found a great deal on a pre-lit tree and when he first brought it in and I saw the picture on the box I was pleasantly surprised at what $30 will get you in the fake tree market! It was a picture of a very beautiful, full Christmas tree all a-twinkle with clear lights. Well, our tree is beautiful and a-twinkle with clear lights, but it is anything but full! It actually came together pretty nicely, and I think that is in large part due to the fact that we didn't have to struggle with the lights. I took some pictures, but they were either too bright because of the flash or dark and a little fuzzy without the flash (I prefer those). Anywho, we had fun hanging up our 17 ornaments, and the result is actually quite lovely.

so pretty! Im glad you caved! our's is kinda scrawny too..thus the reason I added the snow!
It looks very pretty, Shannon. But I will NEVER join the fake tree bandwagon! Only if I give birth to a child who is so allergic, they will die. Anything less than that, NO! Real trees forever!
Shannon, that tree is nice. You need to arrange the branches to fill out the sparse spots. Also, more ornaaments. Once you put the paper chain up, make a popcorn chain. Also, think of all the trees you are saving from being cut. You can buy a can of spray that makes it smell good. Aunt Ruth
Shannon--I think your tree looks great! And really, as long as Natalie and Brady think that it is "pretty" and "cool", you have done your job.
I'm just so sentimental about the trees! It's the smell, and I remember going out with my family long ago and picking it out every year. It's a personal thing, because, trust me, I see the pros of a fake tree. No needles, no watering, no sap, etc. And yours IS very pretty. It's just one of those things I promised myself, and I CAN'T BACK DOWN!!!
I think you did a great job! Very pretty! I love your tree skirt. I have done a fake tree for about 7 years. I can't anything alive except children. No green thumb here. Brady looks disinterested in that pic, but I bet he's pulling stuff off like crazy? You'll end up with your 17 ornaments at the top of your tree. Everything looks really nice.
I'm glad you made the jump and got a tree! Ben picked off a bunch of ornaments at first, but hasn't really touched it since. He hasn't even touched the three wrapped presents we have under the tree! I think THAT'S a miracle! Hopefully Brady will be good too, I'm sure he will be!
I too am an adamant lover of real trees! We grew up with them in my house and the sap, needles, smell, mess was all a part of the memory of Christmas for me! I am not sure yet if Brady is going tobe pulling stuff off the tree, we mostly have to watch Natalie, becasue what she does he does! I think it is the presents that I will put under there that will have the most appeal ;)
P.S. Even though we got a fake tree for this year, I made Keith promise me that it wouldn't mean a fake one every year! When we live in Oregon (wishful thinking) we will go cut our own!
Shannon, I like the tree. We went to a boxed tree last year and after the 16-footers we used to have delivered (and taken down) it was very nice. This year it was up in 15 minutes, lights and all. Less mess, better for the kids (no allergies). Just be careful if it was made in China that Brady doesn't try to eat any of the needles. Love.
PS: IF some over-generous parent was going to buy you a Kitchen Aid, what color would it be?
IF someone was going to get me a Kitchen Aid then black or matte gunmetal gray would be my colors of choice, and that is just IF.
Very pretty!
I remember the trees Grandpa D used to bring down to California when I was Natalies age. They smelled SOOO good. And I agree with my mom, you need to fuss with the branches to make the tree look fuller (we have a fake one, more because of the cat).
Oh believe me we have fussed! There ain't no getting around it, this is one scrawny tree, there isn't anything left to fuss with. Every single bough is pread as far as it will allow!
ok, so I just saw the Kitchen-aid comment and all I can say is wow! I am jealous!
Hey AShley, I have learned not to count my chickens beofre they hatch! So we shall see ;)
I am crossing my fingers! If nothing else maybe you'll get a cocoa maker!
