Brilliant

I just wanted those of you who read my blog, but don't read my friend Missy's blog to head over to this post and check it out. Pure brilliance on her part! My butt is a little smaller after all the laughing I did!

Teensiest tiny football post

I just wanted to draw everyones attention to the right side of my blog where I am slowly but surely working my way towards the grand prize of the Bowers Bowl. (not that we actually have the money stashed away anymore...we are too poor to have that kind of extra moolah laying around)

I also wanted to see if I am not alone in making this connection:

The Patriots and the Colts both can't go to the Superbowl and we have the same record as the Colts and the only team that has beat us so far was the Patriots...so...we are thinking in the Bowers house that there is a great possibility that we could make it to the Super Bowl if we don't choke in the playoffs...no names mentioned here...

New Graceland

In honor of the pending Cowboys game I thought I would post some pictures of the new Cowboys Stadium I was finally able to take. Now, I may not agree with the way the land was acquired, but in this house we think it is pretty awesome that the new Stadium is going up basically down the street (we're talking less than a mile from our house). The sensible half of me know that it is cool in theory, but it will probably be a total pain once the Stadium goes up. The other half of me can't wait! When we first moved here one of the first excursions that we planned was a tour of the old Stadium. Keith (along with his brothers) has been an avid Cowboys fan since he was a small child, so to him the fact that we now live where they play is pretty darn cool. I mean they sell Cowboys stuff at Wal Mart! (It's kinda like how when you live in Rexburg you can get church books and fancy Book of Mormon's at Wal Mart, they sure try to please their customers!) When we were touring the Stadium he told me it was like his Graceland, needless to say it cracked me up! Anywho, It has been really fun seeing the Stadium grow and grow. We are kicking ourselves now for not taking pictures of the before, like we were planning on.
Across the Wal Mart parking lot. I can't even imagine how crazy this place will be on game days.
For some other cool pictures and a walk through of the completed "vision" go here.

Shocked!!!

That was hands down the BEST Monday night game I have EVER watched. You gotta love those Cowboys! They did it, Tony Romo pulled himself together and led the team to a heart stopping victory. That game just proved my love of kickers! You can't win games like that with a crappy kicker. The Cowboys are 5-0 baby!

Promising

If any of you are not yet watching the NFL this season you should start! This year has been great so far (and not just because the Cowboys are 4-0!!!). There have been upsets and standouts all over the place. I encourage you all to start watching because, at least in this house, we feel like this year has the makings of a great season.

More football ramblings...

So this week a wise man told me never to trust the Cardinals, the Browns, or the Lions. I should've listened as two of those teams cost me the Bowers Bowl this week. The only other game that Keith and I chose differently was the Bears v Cowboys game, and without fail if I pick against the Boys then they win (the last time I picked against them it was vs. the Colts and the Cowboys pulled out a win then too)! So needless to say I am not too horribly disappointed that I lost this week. What I saw/heard of the Cowboys game was pretty awesome. I have to watch the full thing today because I was working last night (this is the only downside of my job--thank goodness once again for DVR).

I love commercials, especially ones with Peyton Manning! I found another cool site with him. It is more football trivia, but even if you lose it is pretty cool. To get your butt kicked by Peyton click here. For old times sake click here. Ah, Peyton, oh how you make my heart go pitter pat!

YAY!!

OK, so I can't really promise that I won't comment each week on the Cowboys game, but I HAD to do a post on last nights game because it was AWESOME and because I know half of you didn't watch it and the other half of you were watching Britney crash and burn on the VMA's (poor Britney, it sure is scary seeing what having too much, too fast in your life can do to a person).

Anywho, the Cowboys won their first season game AND it was a division game so that made the victory that much sweeter. I was working last night , so initially all I heard about the game was the "YES's" or the "OH NO's" coming from Keith in the living room. I finally got a chance to watch the game over the course of the day due to the magic that is DVR. As I was watching it I had to laugh because I could tell which parts of the game were the ones Keith had cheered or cringed for. Instead of going into all the details I will just put a small list of my favorite things about the game:

1. Jason Witten. He is my favorite player and has been for a few seasons, so it was cool to see him do so well.
2. Tony Romo's first rushing touchdown of his career.
3. T.O. showing us what he can do.
4. Sam Hurd (who isn't even a starter) making a final T.D. to put the final score at 45-35.

I tried to post some pictures from the game, but I couldn't figure it out. So click here to see some great highlights.

New Kicks

S0, I was at Wal Mart and I saw these shoes and I HAD to get them for Brady. They totally remind me of old man shoes with the Velcro and the thick foam sole, but they are too cute! Plus we are trying to flood Brady's little mind with anything football, so these work out very nicely for Keith's master plan of turning him into the next Cowboys fan in this house!

GO COWBOYS!!

So, the game was VERY fun! We decided not to take Natalie and tried in vain to find another friend to come with us (sorry guys!). Unfortunately our camera died when we were trying to take pregame pictures, so we have no pictures from the game, this was sad for me. I was afraid that this was a sign of things to come, but the day got a LOT better.

It all started when we were waiting in line to come in the gates to the stadium. They were having problems with the ticket scanners so we had to wait in the sun for a good bit, and we were getting hot and thirsty. This small amount of discomfort was canceled out when a guy (Keith thinks he is from dallascowboys.com) came over to those of us waiting in line and asked if anyone had upper deck seats. We did so we spoke up, the guy then gave us 2 FRONT ROW tickets!! We were down on the Cowboys side near the end zone in section 23. Jason was very sweet and let Keith and I go down to the 2 front row seats, but it wasn't too crowded so during the 2nd quarter Jason came down and sat with us. It was a lot of fun to be RIGHT THERE with the game, but honestly we all agreed it was probably easier to watch the game from the upper deck. Luckily we convinced someone to tape the game for us (thanks Kelli!) so we can go back and really see the whole game. The depth perception down on the sidelines is off so I could never tell if it was a first down or not until we looked up at the jumbo tron things. Any who, I won't go into all the details, but it was a good time over all. It was really cool to see all the players in real life. When we were waiting for the game to start we kept pointing out players, like "there's so and so" and "oh look it's whats his face", we then realized that soon we would see ALL the players, so we kind of laughed at ourselves for that. And for those of you wondering, Tony Romo and Peyton Manning are even cuter in real life!

And by the way...the Cowboys won 23-10!

The Big Game!!

So, tonight we are finally going to the game. With all the commotion of moving and unpacking the last few days have flown by and it was Thursday before we knew it!! The apartment is really coming along. Kelli came over last night and forced me to unpack the kitchen. She was right, it was nice to wake up to an unpacked kitchen! (thank you Kelli!!) Now I just have to unpack everything else. This apartment is significantly bigger, but there is less storage area, so I may end up having to unpack everything.

So, I am having a moral dilemma. Keith and I told Natalie forever ago that she was coming to the game with us. Keith and I thought nothing of it and were totally prepared to take her and have a great family activity (minus Brady). But, on Sunday someone put a little seed of doubt in my head about how hard it will be to keep her occupied and content during the whole 6 hours that will be the game experience. So now I do not know what to do. Do I take her and risk not being able to actually watch the game that I have been looking forward to for months or do I leave her at home and risk hurting her feelings and in turn end up lying to her about it? These are the questions that haunt me!! Any advice would be appreciated!

sooo close!

OK, so football is SO close. As I sit here working in my closet/office I can hear Keith watching highlights of training camp and interviews. I actually missed a Tony Romo interview the other night! That is the best part, I love to get to know the players. It makes the game much more enjoyable when the team doesn't seem like a bunch of thugs. I am so glad that we moved here because now we get to see everything Cowboys on TV. I remember Keith and I were shocked the first time we saw a Cowboys bit on the local news, we were like "this is so COOL!!!" When you live near the team it is always on TV and so it is easy to get pumped up for the season.

So I guess I didn't really have anything to write about except that for some reason I am VERY excited for football season. I think it has something to do with all the changes that are taking place. New QB, new coach, new regime, should make for an interesting if not awesome season. I feel bad for Keith who has been waiting for a good season for over 10 years! I have only been waiting for 6! Keith says that makes me a good fan though because I have never like them when they were really good, except for that brief stint with Quincy Carter where we all got our hopes up.

2 weeks and counting!

Keith and I are getting very excited for the game. It seems like forever since the Superbowl and we are both ready for football season to get up and running again. We watched the training camp opener on T.V. and that was good to get us even more pumped up. It is fun to see all the players, it helps me to get more in to each season.

Meanwhile we are just busy packing and getting ready to move. We move on the 4th and Jason and Erin are coming in on the 2nd. It is going to be a busy few weeks in the Bowers house! In between all the packing and unpacking we are going to try to do some fun things with the whole group. We will be sure to take many pictures.

For those of you unfamiliar with the random names I throw out, here are some pictures to put faces with names. Plus I just wanted to post this pic of Erin because I thought she looked so beautiful at her graduation!

My kind of article...

I got home from a day out with Natalie (we went to IKEA and the Wiggles Play Center) and Keith had left this article up on the computer for me. He knows I love things like this. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/football/cowboys/stories/072507dnspocowlede.3339767.html

How can you not love these guys!

starting him young

Brady can't talk and this has been very worrisome for us. He can only say small words like mama, dada, and not much else. He kind of says thank you also. Today Brady learned a new word...football. Of course it sounds more like bu ba, but we will take it!

YAY...

...our football tickets came in the mail today! We are so excited that we finally get to go to a cowboys game (Keith has gone before so I guess I may be little more excited) together. As soon as I found out that the Cowboys were playing the Colts I begged (seriously, I begged) Keith to surprise me with tickets. Of course, because he is the BEST HUSBAND EVER, he did, and he even bought 4 so we could take friends. We are going with Natalie and Keith's younger brother Jason, luckily enough my sister will also be in town to babysit Brady for us.

I seriously cannot contain my excitement, I am such a dork. Keith thinks it is no big deal because it is just a preseason game and it doesn't matter. I think it is totally awesome because it is a real live football game and we get to see THE Peyton Manning. I told Keith it will be perfect because all three of my boyfriends will be in the same place at the same time, Keith (of course my number 1), Tony Romo (also Natalie's player of choice), and the multi-talented Peyton Manning (I love his commercials, so funny and so cute). I guess I am also excited to see a live game, but you can bet we have our binoculars! :)

Anywho, it should be a great time and you can bet I will tell all about it. Hopefully Natalie has a great time too and doesn't get too tired, we shall see.
