Whatcha dooooin?

1. I pretty much LOVED Alice and Wonderland, we just watched it tonight. Took us forever to get to see it, but it was lovely! The costumes were divine! And the Red Queen was probably my favorite. Helena Bonham Carter has some major crazy talent. My kids would be too frightened, but I may need to own it, if just to admire the clothes every now and again.

2. Girls camp..check. Scout camp...check. Dance camp...check! Camps all done and accounted for and now on with our regularly scheduled summer programing! I see in my future lots of laying around and crafting and reading and watching TV, but we are making a To Do list so that we don't waste away the whole summer without doing some of the really fun things I have in mind.

3. I have decided I HATE custom orders. Bleh. I like to sew when the material....um, speaks to me. Which sounds weird, but if I love what I am working with, it's much more pleasant. I have a few custom pieces I am working on, and after that. Nope! Unless I really, REALLY like you!

4. I have decided that I LOVE spray painting things. LOVE. I was afraid at first, but once I found primer it became very unscary. My first thing was the yellow fruit basket I used at the craft fair, then the other day I found a cute silver owl trivet. I was hoping to polish it up, but when that didn't work, out came the spray paint. It's very cute, though I don't like it yellow...may have to buy some aqua paint. Shucks.

5. I have been somewhat quiet about Weight Watchers, because I had a few slow weeks, then camping and such, but I am still proud to say that I have lost 15 lbs thus far. And even with my horrible eating the last 2 weeks, I straightened out my act towards then end and come weigh in I had only gained .2 lbs...which is practically zero! If I stick to the plan I lose weight, if I don't...I don't! It's as simple as that! I am happy with my 15 and on my way to another 15!

...Oh, and I ADORED Toy Story 3. The first one was so incredible, the second one was delightful as well, but the third one was perfect! The perfect way to wrap up the trilogy. They couldn't have done it any better. The ending was amazing, I was laughing and crying and just having a grand old time! The kids loved it too ;)

Off to live some more life! Hopefully this time with pictures. I need to dust off the old camera and document this crazy summer!

Movie Review: 17 Again

Ok, this movie in a nutshell? Zac Efron is pretty, very very pretty. Now if you can get past that, the movie is actually really cute! My friend Julie and I went and saw it on Saturday, and I think we both really liked it. Granted there were times were I kinda got lost because I was a bit distracted by the pretty, but it was not a waste of money. The perfect summertime, easy to watch, just relax and enjoy movie. We laughed, we cringed at the embarrassing parts (oh my, the embarrassing parts), and we ogled. I would definitely recommend seeing this as a perfect girls night out movie. I wouldn't recommend seeing it with your significant other though, he may get annoyed at all the pretty (they kinda wouldn't let you forget it, basically throwing the pretty in our faces!). But really, it's a cute movie, cute story line, only a few mildly inappropriate jokes. So I guess this was my roundabout way of saying, see it if you can! Shoot, I would even go see it again with you. At least I now understand why millions of adolescent girls are swooning over this boy!

The movie dilemma

Is it bad that my kids now ask to watch Star Wars? I mean, it IS a classic, but it is also violent and crazy and kinda weird! But both kids love it...I even succumbed and bought Brady an old school style Star Wars shirt from the great Target, he did ask me so sweetly! What do you think? How young is TOO young for movies like this? Now also take into consideration I don't let them watch it alone, Keith is always right there to explain things, or make them shut their eyes if need be.

Oh, and the funny thing is, Natalie picked out this Justice League cartoon from the library, and after letting her watch it once, Keith put the nix on watching it anymore, because he thought it was too old! Which, it really was, the violence in that show was on a whole separate level, but still...did she like it because she has seen other stuff like Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean? I mean, she literally cried when we said she wasn't allowed to see it again, she liked it that much!

I mean I remember watching Dirty Dancing as a child, and I just loved the DANCING, then I watched it when I was older and I have to say I was SHOCKED at how...raunchy it was! I mean RAUNCHY! But, I was completely unaware of all of that when I was a kid. But now as a parent, I don't want my kids watching things that are too old for their innocent minds!

So, what do you do, fellow parents? How do you judge what your little kids can watch? I myself am leaning towards the theory of they already grow up so fast, so why push it? But then, I have no qualms about letting them watch The Incredibles or Mulan or really ANY of the Princess movies! Um...I am kind of answering my own question in these crazy ramblings...there is no getting around violence in movies and TV, it just depends on the TYPE of violence (I feel like the unseen death of a bad guy is not nearly as bad as seeing say, a head being blown to smithereens). I think the important part is to make sure they see the lesson. That good triumphs over evil!

Obsessed much?

A while back we borrowed a movie from our favorite movie store, Sarah's house. You may have heard of the movie, Toy Story 2?? Yes? You know the film? Well, so do my kids! I swear they watch it at least once a day all the way through, and it is on as background noise more than that. Which, I know, is totally horrible, but it just so happened that last week I was working, so yeah, the kids watch too much TV, and then this week I got my teeth out, so I was too tired to take them anywhere (thanks Lortab), so it has just been that they have had lots of free time. Of course I make them play together, but after so much of that they need a break, and this is their movie of choice! They love it so much!

They can quote parts of it, which cracks me up. "No Buzz! I AM your father!" Brady has actually even pulled out the Toy Story toys we have had FOR-E-VER and is playing with them! He likes to carry Zurg and Buzz around. Looks like someone is actually going to be easy to shop for this Christmas! Thankfully it is a classic movie and they still sell the characters, if not I would be hitting the Ebay right about now!

Here are some pictures of Brady from 10 tonight watching it on my bed. It is Saturday night so we aren't pushing bedtime, plus he is being good and quiet, and not to mention really stinking cute! The pictures aren't the greatest, but I hate to use the flash, and I am working so I really didn't have time to work with the settings, but look at those legs! Oh man, it is all I can do not to jump on him and squeeze his little body! And I love when he lays like a big kid with his feet crossed. Man! He is just being TOO cute tonight!

I love this little man! And I have to say I am glad they have picked such a non-irritating movie to watch all the time. I even like it better than the first one, more funny parts!

Date Night and a Movie Review

Last night I was finally able to go on a much needed date with my sweetheart. My little Natalie. We decided to go out to dinner and a movie, and maybe try and squeeze in some shopping if possible. We started off at Chili's and gorged ourselves on spinach artichoke dip. macaroni and cheese and the big mouth burger bites (SO, SO good! Oh goodness!). We were so full, we brought home TONS of leftovers! There were a few different movies to choose from, but we both decided to see Mamma Mia! I know, I know it is rated PG-13, BUT Natalie is still young enough that any innuendos just went right over her head and she just LOVED all the singing and dancing. Of course I bought the soundtrack, and she just loves Honey, Honey and Money, Money, Money(and she just requested I turn it to "the one where Sophie is one the beach" aka Lay All Your Love On Me). I loved the movie so much, the music is so good, and the movie was done so well! I also wanted to jump right in to the movie set and settle on in! It was absolutely stunning where they had the movie set. Even though the hotel was supposed to be old and falling apart, it was absolutely perfect, from the colors to the atmosphere! My idea of paradise! My favorite song segment was the S.O.S. song sung by Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, so good. The whole thing was good, if you like ABBA at all, you will love this movie. I highly recommend it, and of course I always recommend Chili's!


I was so glad that Natalie and I were able to get to spend some nice time with each other, just her and I. It needs to be more of a regular thing I think, and will need to be something we do until she moves out. I feel like she is able to be heard more, and it helps me to know what is going on in her little world. Plus, I think it just makes her feel special!

P.S. How many times can one post have the word "good" in it, methinks I need to pull out the thesaurus! Good, good, good!
